Sadly, Cancer seems to have touched us all in one way or another. Whether we’ve been stricken with it ourselves or one of our loved ones.

Many of us who crochet want to give back by crocheting hats & donating them to a family member or friend who has cancer or to a local cancer center. This event is a way to offer lots of new patterns that could offer cancer patients a bit of comfort.

Now’s your chance to help support cancer patients. When you download a FREE hat pattern you are pledging to make AT LEAST ONE hat from that pattern to donate to someone you know who is battling cancer or to a cancer center.

On October 17, I am honored to be the featured designer for the  2025 #CrochetCancerChallenge

The Cora the Conqueror Slouch Hat was designed in honor of my niece, who bravely and victoriously overcame Large B-cell Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. This pattern is a celebration of courage, strength, and hope—stitched into a stylish and cozy accessory that’s as empowering to wear as it is fun to make.

With its modern slouchy fit and beautiful texture, this hat works up quickly and can be customized in a variety of colors. The pattern includes instructions to adjust sizing, making it a great fit for most teens and adults.

This slouchy works up quickly with awesome texture and would make the perfect gift for all the adults in your life ... and a great addition to your next market.

Lime green is the established awareness color for all types of non-Hodgkin lymphoma, which is a form of blood cancer that affects the lymphatic system.

I'm not a big fan of the color 'lime green' but it certainly fits Cora's personality of being fun, bright, bold & fiesty! I looked at several different lime green'sh colors, but when I found Hobby Lobby's "I Love This Yarn" in their 'Keylime' ... well, I just knew it was the perfect color for Cora!

Whether you’re making it for yourself, gifting it to someone special, or stocking your next market table, the Cora the Conqueror Slouch Hat is a project full of meaning and handmade charm - and strength!

Quick, cozy, and filled with heart—this design is more than just a hat, it’s a symbol of resilience and victory.
